Art: Chungli Huang
Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Chungli Huang explores gender, sexuality, and Taiwanese politics through paint. Driven by a sincere fascination with the expressive possibilities of his medium, Huang builds layer upon layer of charcoal and thick oil paint, leaving his process exposed to the viewer in the hopes that his struggle with the paint will reflect the struggle and turmoil of his subjects.
Chungli Huang states:
The word 'paint' always reminds me of another word 'pain,' because all my working process are just like the endless battles: the painful, agonized combat with myself.
